PRP Treatment
The PRP treatment consists of three main steps:
Step 1: Blood collection: To begin treatment, a sample of your blood will be drawn.
Step 2: Preparation of PRP: The blood will then be placed into a machine called a centrifuge. This machine will spin very quickly, separating the red blood cells and white blood cells from the platelets. This process takes about 15 minutes, and the resulting serums contain growth factors, platelets, and cytokines that will help rejuvenate your skin.
Step 3: Injection of PRP: The PRP is then placed into a syringe, which is then injected into the predetermined areas. If needed, a topical numbing cream can be applied to the treatment area before the PRP injection.
PRP Results
After PRP treatments, you may experience mild redness, swelling, or tenderness, which should resolve with time. Most patients can see an improvement in their skin texture in the first month after treatment, but it takes about three months for collagen and tissue regeneration to occur. Most people require 2 to 3 platelet-rich plasma injection treatments spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. For the best results, be sure to avoid strenuous exercise, sun exposure for long periods of time, and sitting in a sauna, hot tub, or jacuzzi that can heat the treatment area.
